First day in Anchorage

We landed sound and safe in Anchorage. After 18 hours of flying we tried to find our hostel. Unfortunately, the taxi driver didn't know where our hostel was. It took him a while to find it. When we arrived there was no one at the office. Some Russian boys told us to look for Joseph but he was gone. After waiting for 15 min he came back and we could go to our room.

This morning we planned to go out for breakfast. But first we had to find the downtown area. We walked around and it didn't seem like there was going to be one. We asked some ladies and they directed us towards town. When we arrived there after a 30 min walk we had breakfast. After we visited the tourist information we went to the Anchorage Zoo and saw brown. black and polar bears.
Back in town we wanted to drink coffee but that wasnt easy. We found a really nice coffee place but we didn't know how to order. What is "half and half" and "fake sugar"? We also had problems with the grocery shopping. We went to Wall-Mart and had to find out that it isn't a food store. Feels like we are having a culture shock!
